snap & food access programs
We’re committed to making fresh, local food affordable and accessible for everyone in Ypsilanti. Below are the latest updates to our SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, and Ypsi SNAP Gap programs – all designed to stretch your food dollars and support local farmers.

Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB)
More fruits and vegetables – for less!
The Ypsilanti Farmers Market is a distribution site, and vouchers can be redeemed at other participating markets and stores (like Argus or Ann Arbor Farmers Market).
There’s no longer a $20 match limit – your DUFB match equals whatever you redeem from your EBT card.

Here’s a refined, clear, and website-friendly version that keeps the information accurate while improving flow and readability:

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is one of the largest and most widely used food access programs at Michigan farmers markets. SNAP is a federal program administered by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).
Most farmers markets, including ours, operate under a central terminal model, meaning the market itself is authorized to accept SNAP benefits rather than individual vendors.
Here’s how it works:
Shoppers use their SNAP Bridge Card at the Market Information Booth to request a specific dollar amount at the start of their shopping trip. The market then provides that amount in specialized market currency, typically wooden tokens in $1 increments. These tokens can be used to purchase eligible food items from participating vendors throughout the market.
SNAP tokens must be used for approved food products only, and no cash back is permitted.
